Our Lakes and Dams Need Attention Now

Here is a presentation that was given to the lake homeowners on November 9th, 2023, at the First Methodist Church. It was used to communicate the urgency of issues surrounding the lake dams. After this meeting, many lake homeowners contributed, and we now have $11,300.00 to be used on dam inspection and maintenance in 2024. In addition, the City of North Little Rock has recognized our research and the fact that our lakes serve as important storm water retention ponds for more than just our neighborhood. They collect water from a much bigger area. This allowed them to provide an additional $25,000 in public funds. Work has already begun to remove old growth trees from the dam embankments which were flagged by the State Department of Agriculture during inspections. Dam Remediation Progress…

First Year Maintenance Funds Raised to Date:

65% of mature trees and shrubs have been removed from the upper dam. The surface now needs to be cleaned of the large wood debris, raked and hydroseeded to protect the exposed soil from erosion. IHCC is working with the Mayor, Ward 4 Council Members, and the City Engineers to coordinate the remaining work. Once the additional work is complete and the $25,000 is gone, we will schedule our first 3rd party dam inspection, using funds collected from many of the homeowners around the lakes. If you are a lake homeowner and have not contributed, please do so. We need as much help as possible.
